NAPSWI

National Association of Professional Social Workers in India (NAPSWI) is a non-profit, non-political, national level organisation dedicated to the promotion of standards and enhancement of the status of the social work profession. It is one of the largest associations of social work professionals in India.

NAPSWI was born in 2005, following the concerns of professional social workers to cater to the need of having an organization at the national level. Since its inception, it has been making attempts to bring professional social workers on one platform, so that a collective identity of the profession could emerge. NAPSWI intends to fulfil the twin purposes of promoting the social work profession within the country together with safeguarding and protecting the interests of Social work professionals. While its Secretariat is at CSRD, Institute of Social Work, Ahmednagar, the Central Office / the Office of the President of NAPSWI is located at the Department of Social Work, University of Delhi.

Objectives

  • Increase awareness about social work profession at various levels.
  • Promote the highest professional standards and ethics in the practice of professional social work.
  • Advance the knowledge and practice base of social work interventions that enhance quality of life and standard of living of persons, their family and environment.
  • Faster communication and foster support among professional social workers.
  • Promote social change, empowerment and liberation of people to enhance their well-being adhering to principles of human rights and social justice.
  • Promote research, action and other forms of continuing education for knowledge up-gradation of members.
  • Advocate for programmes and policies to meet the needs of social work fraternity and its various clientele groups.
  • Work to strive for better working conditions of work of social work professionals.
  • Promote liaison activities with other professional organizations at regional / state / national or international level having similar goals and objectives
